This snake was found in Fulton County, Illinois. If anyone knows what it is, please let me know. Sorry the quality is so poor, I took the picture with my phone and could not get much closer to it.

I would love to see a better picture of it, particularly the head. I don't really know much about snakes, but I can google decently! I can tell you I don't like the look of it one bit.
My high school science teacher told me with some certainty that it's a Prairie King Snake. Another person thought it was a juvenile Black Rat Snake.
Keep in mind the photo has been enlarged. The snake was very small, only about 8 inches or so.
The coloring doesn't look right for a Rat Snake, but I'm no expert. I would say either a Prairie Kingsnake or a Bull Snake - most likely the Prairie Kingsnake, especially since it's smaller and because your science teacher knows a lot more than I do.
I really liked snakes when I was a kid. I had all kinds of books about them, but I was never allowed to actually have one. Snakes are cool!
